HERS 540 - Personal and Community Influences on Health and Wellness


(3 credits)

This course is designed to highlight how personal health and public/community health impact the state of mental health within society. Students are exposed to a broad spectrum of personal and public health topics and issues. Included are topics such as improved mental/emotional health, dietary practices, physical fitness, prevention, reduced risk and control of diseases, and behavior change. The use of alcohol, tobacco and other drugs, with an emphasis on prevention strategies and personal guideline development is specifically stressed as mandated by Minnesota State Law 126.06. Prerequisite: Admission to the School of Graduate Studies or instructor permission. Grade only. Offered annually.
