HERS 581 - Performance Analytics in Biomechanics

(3 credits)

Biomechanical concepts will be taught through a focus on running, sport skills, exercise, fundamental movements, and muscle mechanics. Students will also learn how to use a variety of biomechanical measurement instruments to quantify aspects of human movements. Advanced data processing and analysis techniques will be performed on signals/data derived from dynamometers, electromyography, foot pressure, timing/contact devices, accelerometers, two and three-dimensional kinematics, and kinetics. The analysis techniques will create a deeper understanding of the biomechanics of movement. Prerequisite: Admission to WSU graduate program or instructor permission. Corequisite: HERS 580 - Exercise Physiology for Performance Analytics . Grade only. Offered alternate years.
