NURS 703 - Epidemiological Approaches to Population Health


(3 credits)

This course provides students with an overview of epidemiology concepts, history, models, and frameworks as they relate to the role of the graduate-prepared nurse. Students will learn to critically analyze population-level data for improving population health outcomes. The course will emphasize the graduate nurse’s use of social epidemiology, social determinants of health, data and epidemiology, descriptive epidemiology, analytic epidemiology, and epidemiology in evaluative research and health policy at local, national, and global levels. Prerequisites:   or instructor permission, NURS 701 - Applied Biostatistics , and STAT 601 - Statistical Methods for Health Care Research . Grade only. Offered alternate semesters (usually spring).
