CHEM 507 - Principles of Biochemistry II


(3 credits)

Introduction to the chemistry of living organisms; emphasis on the structure and function of proteins, carbohydrates, lipids, and nucleic acids; enzymatic catalysis, thermodynamics, control and integration of metabolic processes; nucleotide metabolism and expression and transmission of genetic information. Prerequisites: CHEM 505 - Biochemistry I  and CHEM 506 - Biochemistry I Laboratory  or CHEM 405 and CHEM 406 with instructor permission (see undergraduate catalog). Corequisite: CHEM 508 - Biochemistry II Laboratory . Grade only. Offered annually (usually in spring semester).
