BIOL 529 - Genetics in Medicine


(3 credits)

This course will investigate the basis of inherited human disease, with an emphasis on how genetic disorders are passed from parent to offspring within families, diagnosis of genetic disorders by phenotype, using experimental means to diagnose and study genetic disorders, how changes in DNA sequence result in significant phenotypes, and genetic epidemiology. Prerequisites: BIOL 241, BIOL 307, BIOL 308, and BIOL 310, BIOL 311 or equivalent or instructor permission. Grade only. Offered annually.
