Financial statements serve an important information source for information users. Investors use financial statements to help decide whether to buy or sell stock. Creditors use financial statements to help decide on the creditworthiness of a company’s debt and terms in debt contracts. Valuation is the process of drawing on the results of financial statement analysis to estimate a company’s worth. Taken together, financial statement analysis and valuation is the joint process of analyzing a company’s financial statements and valuing its worth.
