NURS 628 - Professional Practice in Wound, Ostomy, Continence (WOC) Nursing (1 credit)
Learners will develop a foundational understanding of the roles and responsibilities of a specialized nurse in providing holistic, evidence-based care of persons with complex wounds, ostomies, continence and foot and nail concerns. The content includes the history of the specialty and best practices to foster one’s professional growth. Students learn how to collaborate within an interprofessional team. Students also explore WOC specific legal and ethical issues. This course introduces the concept of WOC nursing entrepreneurship. Admission into the Wound Ostomy Continence Nursing Program (WOCNEP) or instructor permission. Grade only. Offered annually (usually summer session).
