NURS 668 - Foot and Nail Care (2 credits)
This course emphasizes a holistic approach to foot and nail care, recognizing that foot and nail health is integral to a patient’s well-being. Students learn about the anatomy, physiology, comorbidities, and health habits that impact the health of feet and nails. Course content includes exercises that teach students how to conduct a focused physical exam and how to take a detailed health and medication history. Additional skills covered in the course include obtaining and interpreting an ankle-brachial index (ABI) and conducting monofilament, vibratory, and proprioception tests. Students in this course will have the knowledge and skills necessary to provide comprehensive, evidence-based foot and nail care to patients across the healthcare spectrum. Grade only. Offered annually (usually summer session).
