△ NURS 475 - Population-Based Health Care I (4 credits) (3 credits theory/1 credit practicum) Meets GEP Writing Intensive. (Baccalaureate RN Completion)
This course builds on Registered Nurse students’ professional experiences to prepare them for population-focused clinical practice in community/public health nursing by meeting selected, collective health needs of the community. Concepts from nursing, public health, social, and behavioral science theories are utilized to provide culturally competent nursing care to individuals, families, and communities within the context of that population. Primary prevention strategies for populations at risk are emphasized to promote and protect health and prevent disease across the life span. Course clinical components focus on health promotion, disease prevention, and primary prevention strategies.
*Students who are F1 Visa holders can be authorized for Curricular Practical Training (CPT) while enrolled in this course. Prerequisite: admission to the RN-BS Completion Program. Pre/corequisite: ◆ NURS 375 - Research and Evidence-Based Nursing Practice . Grade only. Offered fall and spring semesters.
