NURS 420 - Nursing Care of Pediatric Patients


(3 credits)

Students will focus on family-centered care of the pediatric patient and their family across the life span. Various health care settings will be discussed, as well as appropriate interventions to care for the pediatric patient and their family within these settings. Students will demonstrate evidence-based and therapeutic nursing care of pediatric patients and their family through site based clinical settings and/or simulation learning. Preferred corequisites:△ NURS 400 - Professional Nursing and Nursing Success III , NURS 405 - Nursing Competency Skills and Application III , NURS 410 - Medical/Surgical Nursing III , and NURS 425 - Nursing Care for Population Health . Prerequisites: Admission to the Nursing program and NURS 350 - Medical/Surgical Nursing II . Grade only. Offered each semester on Winona and Rochester campuses. Note: Differential tuition rates apply. This course is allowed to be repeated 1 time.
