◎ HERS 318 - Global Health


(3 S.H.)

An introduction to the key principles and concepts of global health. The course examines the ways in which the burden of disease and the promotion of health are affected by culture, human rights, development economics and health care systems in countries around the world. The course explores links between development and public health and the principles and practice of global cooperation to tackle public health threats. The course is also designed to be an introduction to careers in global and international health promotion. Prerequisites: ✽ HERS 204 - Personal & Community Health , HERS 288 - Health Perspectives , and △ HERS 316 - Introduction to Public Health  and CMST 191 - Introduction to Public Speaking .
