BIOL 430 - Molecular Biology


(3 S.H.)

A study of the various molecular aspects of DNA, RNA, and protein structure, function, and expression. Topics include DNA replication, DNA transcription into RNA, RNA translation to protein, DNA repair mechanisms, plasmids and transposons, recombinant DNA and genetic engineering, and regulation of gene activity in prokaryotes and eukaryotes. Lecture only. Prerequisites: △ BIOL 308 - Cell Biology , ◆ BIOL 310 - Genetics , BIOL 312 - General Ecology , and CHEM 340 - Organic Chemistry Survey . Offered yearly.
