BA Major – Mass Communication
45 S.H. (Minor Required)
The Mass Communication major consists of 45 semester hours divided between an academic core, a professional skills core, and five options. This major prepares students to create, produce, deliver, and understand the effects of mediated messages. A student must complete the academic core, the professional skills core, and one of the options. A minor from a department other than Mass Communication is required. Professional Skills Core (9 S.H.)
Journalism Option (21 S.H.)
In addition to the Academic Core and Professional Skills Core listed above, a Mass Communication-Journalism major must complete the following five required courses and two elective courses from the list below: Journalism Required Courses – MCOM (15 S.H.)

Note: MCOM 491 - Media Lab is held jointly for students in the Journalism Option and for students in the Photography and Digital Imaging Option. Journalism Electives – MCOM (6 S.H.)
