SPED 477 - Student Teaching for ABS (15 S.H.)
This student teaching/internship experience covers assessment, instruction, behavior management, and collaboration for students with mild disabilities, including autism spectrum disorder, developmental disabilities, emotional/behavioral disorders, other health disabilities, and specific learning disabilities. It is a full time, semester-long placement in a special education classroom under the supervision of a licensed special education teacher and a university supervisor. This is the final requirement before licensure. Prerequisites: All coursework including General Education, Professional Education Sequence, Special Education Core, Reading Methods, SPED 470 - Advanced Evaluation and Assessment , SPED 471 - Advanced Behavior Methods , SPED 472 - Elementary Instruction , SPED 473 - Transition and Secondary Skills , SPED 474 - Elementary Field Experience for ABS , and SPED 475 - Secondary Field Experience for ABS . For teaching candidates seeking initial licensure the edTPA is required. P/NC only. Offered each semester.
