SPED 571 - Advanced Behavior Methods


(3 credits)

This course provides the teacher candidate with knowledge and skills related to procedures for practical application of behavioral principles used in classroom management specific to students with mild Autism Spectrum Disorder, Developmental Cognitive Disability, Emotional/Behavioral Disorder, Other Health Disability, and Specific Learning Disability. Teacher candidates will practice behavior interventions with students who have diverse educational needs. Prerequisites: SPED 500 - Children and Youth with Exceptionalities , SPED 505 - Student Management Systems , and SPED 520 - Special Education Administrative Procedures . Pre/corequisite: SPED 525 - Inclusion in Regular Classrooms . Corequisites: SPED 573 - Transition and Secondary Skills Instruction  and SPED 575 - Secondary Field Experience for ABS . Grade only. Offered each semester.
