SPED 573 - Transition and Secondary Skills Instruction


(3 credits)

The course is for students preparing for the Academic and Behavior Strategist license and covers transition and instructional methods for teaching secondary students with mild disabilities, including autism spectrum disorders, developmental cognitive disabilities, emotional/behavioral disorders, specific learning disabilities, and other health disabilities. Topics included are data interpretation, academic instruction, progress monitoring, assistive technology, transition resources, consultation, and collaboration. Prerequisites: SPED 500 - Children and Youth with Exceptionalities , SPED 505 - Student Management Systems , and SPED 520 - Special Education Administrative Procedures . Pre/corequisite: SPED 525 - Inclusion in Regular Classrooms . Corequisites: SPED 571 - Advanced Behavior Methods  and SPED 475. Grade only. Offered each semester.
