BBED 407 - Methods in Bilingual and Bicultural Education (4 credits)
This course provides students with a theoretical and practical framework for implementing Bilingual Education teaching methodologies. Topics discussed include the development of Bilingual Education programs in the U.S., educational and second language acquisition theories that influence program models, and research-based best practices that provide equal educational opportunity for linguistically and culturally diverse students. Prerequisites: EDFD 400 - Metacognitive Learner: B-6th Grade or EDFD 401 - Metacognitive Learner: K-12 and 5-12 , EDFD 460 - Multicultural Youth, Children, and Families Part I: B-6th Grade or EDFD 461 - Multicultural Youth, Children, and Families: Part I: K-12 and 5-12 , △ SPAN 301 - Spanish Composition and Conversation or SPAN 310 - Spanish for Native/Heritage Speakers , ENG 350 - Introduction to Language Study , and △ ENG 480 - Theories of Second Language Acquisition . Grade only. Offered annually (usually spring semester).
