NURS 638 - Wound Care (3 Credits)
Learners focus on caring for patients across the lifespan who are at risk for or have impaired skin integrity, such as an existing wound. Specifically, students will apply principles of skin anatomy, physiology, and pathology and etiology to determine clinical findings, differential diagnosis, clinical findings, and management options for the specific wounds affecting these patients. Course activities focus on developing skills in history taking, physical assessment, and documentation of assessment findings to develop holistic, evidence-based plans of care. Prerequisite: NURS 628 - Professional Practice in Wound, Ostomy, Continence (WOC) Nursing or instructor permission. Grade only. Offered annually (usually summer session).
