HERS 361 - Practicum in Cardiopulmonary Rehabilitation (1-3 S.H.)
Students will be required to complete two semesters of practicum for one credit hour each semester for a total of two credit hours. Typically, the first practicum will be in the junior year and will be at WSU’s Cardiopulmonary Rehabilitation Program. The second practicum will be completed with Phase II and III patients at Winona Health’s Cardiopulmonary Rehabilitation Program. Students must have current American Heart CPR, AED, and First Aid certification. Prerequisites: Major GPA of 2.8. Prerequisites: (1) Level I: BIOL 211 - Anatomy and Physiology I and BIOL 212 - Anatomy and Physiology II ; ✽ HERS 205 - Nutrition for Lifetime Wellness , HERS 280 - Foundations of Exercise Science , △ HERS 340 - Physiology of Exercise , and ◎ HERS 380 - Laboratory Methods in Exercise Science (or concurrently). (2) Level II: Satisfactory completion of Level I practicum; HERS 344 - Electrocardiography , HERS 360 - Nutrition for the Physically Active , and △ HERS 445 - Medical Aspects of Exercise (or concurrently); NURS 361 - Pharmacology for Non-Nursing Majors , NURS 366 - Pathophysiology , and NURS 392 - Cardiac Risk Prevention (or concurrently). Grade only. Offered each semester.
