△ EDFD 449 - Middle Level Philosophy, Organization and Interdisciplinary Planning (3 credits)
This course provides students with the knowledge, skill, and understanding of middle level education. In particular, the students will investigate the unique qualities of middle level learners; effective characteristics of middle level teachers; and best practices in curriculum, instruction, and assessment. This course has field experience hours within local middle level buildings. Prerequisites: Admission to Teacher Education, EDFD 400 - Human Development and Learning: Early Childhood and Elementary or EDFD 401 - Human Development and Learning: K-12 & 5-12 , EDFD 420 - Classroom Management: Early Childhood and Elementary or EDFD 421 - Classroom Management: K-12 and 5-12 , ◆ EDFD 440 - Curriculum, Instruction, and Assessment: Early Childhood and Elementary or ◆ EDFD 441 - Curriculum, Instruction, and Assessment: K-12 and Secondary , EDFD 460 - Multicultural Youth, Children, & Families Part I: Early Childhood and Elementary or EDFD 461 - Multicultural Youth, Children, & Families: Part I: K-12 and 5-12 , and instructor permission. Grade only. Offered each semester. This course may be retaken once due to student withdrawal or earning less than C grade.
