△ EDFD 459 - The Professional Educator


(3 credits) Meets GEP Writing Intensive.

This course is designed to familiarize teacher education majors and others associated with the education profession with the historical and philosophical foundations of public education, school organizational patterns, legal responsibilities, professional organizations, and related educational issues. Additional components will involve classroom management and topics related to inclusive and special education. Prerequisites: Admission to Teacher Education, EDFD 400 - Metacognitive Learner: B-6th Grade  or EDFD 401 - Metacognitive Learner: K-12 and 5-12 , EDFD 420 - Classroom Management: B-6th Grade  or EDFD 421 - Classroom Management: K-12 and 5-12 , ◆ EDFD 440 - Curriculum, Instruction, and Assessment: B-6th Grade  or ◆ EDFD 441 - Curriculum, Instruction, and Assessment: K-12 and 5-12 , and EDFD 460 - Multicultural Youth, Children, and Families Part I: B-6th Grade  or EDFD 461 - Multicultural Youth, Children, and Families: Part I: K-12 and 5-12 . Corequisite: EDFD 462 - Multicultural Youth, Children, and Families Part II . Grade only. Offered each semester. This course may be retaken once due to student withdrawal or earning less than C grade.
