NURS 365 - Nursing Care of Maternal and Infant Patients


(3 credits)

Students will focus on family-centered care of the obstetric patient and their family across the life span - starting from preventative health care practices, pregnancy care, labor and delivery, and newborn care. Various health care settings will be discussed, as well as appropriate interventions to care for the obstetric patient and their family within these settings. Students will demonstrate evidence-based and therapeutic nursing care of obstetric patients and their family through site based clinical settings and/or simulation learning. Preferred corequisites: ◆ NURS 340 - Professional Nursing and Nursing Success II , NURS 345 - Nursing Competency Skills and Application II , NURS 350 - Medical/Surgical Nursing II , and NURS 370 - Nursing Care for Mental Health  . Prerequisites: Admission to the Nursing program and NURS 310 - Medical/Surgical Nursing I . Grade only. Offered each semester on Winona and Rochester campuses. Note: Differential tuition rates apply. This course is allowed to be repeated 1 time.
