EEOL 420 - Diverse Learners

This course explores the multifaceted nature of diversity in elementary classrooms, encompassing cultural, socioeconomic, developmental, and ability differences, and examines how these differences impact student learning and well-being. It emphasizes the importance of creating an inclusive and equitable learning environment where all students feel valued and can reach their full potential. The course equips elementary teachers with the knowledge and skills to create inclusive and equitable learning environments for diverse learners, focusing on understanding human relations, addressing diverse needs, and implementing effective teaching strategies. Prerequisite: EEOL 330 - Science and Technology in the Elementary Classrooms. Corequisites: EEOL 400 - Data Decisions, EEOL 410 - Culturally Responsive Practices and Family Engagement in Elementary Education, and EEOL 450 - First Six Weeks Student Teaching. Grade only. Offered annually (usually fall semester).
